In the epistle to the Ephesians, Paul is talking about the entire building that is under construction and is continually growing under his supervision until it rises up completed as the holy temple of the Lord himself (Ephesians 2:21 TPT). In the previous verse (verse 20), Paul is pointing to YOU (as an individual) and says that you are raising like the perfectly fitted stones of the temple and your lives are being built up together upon the ideal foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, and best of all, you are connected to the Head Cornerstone of the building, the Anointed One, Jesus Christ Himself!!

Verse 22 is the breakthrough of Ephesians 2

"God is transforming each one of you into the Holy of Holies, his dwelling place, through the power of the Holy Spirit living in you!"

Paul continues explaining this mystery of God in Chapter 4 pointing to Jesus Christ who ascends into the heavenly heights taking his many captured ones with him, and gifts were given to men (Ephesians 4:8). 

He ascended means that he returned to heaven, after he had first descended from the heights of heaven, even descending as far as the lowest parts of the earth. The same one who descended is also the one who ascended above the heights of heaven, in order to begin the RESTORATION and fulfillment of all things (Ephesians 4:9-10).

And now He appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists  (preachers), and some with grace to be pastors (shepherds), and some with grace to be teachers (wise orators) Ephesians 4:11 TPT.

And their calling is to nurture and prepare all the holy believers to do their own works of ministry, and as they do this they will enlarge and build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). And finally we become one into a perfect man with the full dimensions of spiritual maturity and fully developed into the abundance of Christ (Ephesians 4:13b). 

And then our IMMATURITY will end (Ephesians 4:14). 

The result of this is that we will not be easily shaken by trouble, nor led astray by novel teachings or by the false doctrines of deceivers who teach clever lies. But instead we will remain strong and always sincere in our love as we express the truth. All our direction and ministries will flow from Christ and lead us deeper into him, the anointed Head of his body, the church (Ephesians 4:14-15).

And don't you dare falling away as Paul warns us in the Book of Hebrews:

A Warning to Never Turn Away

It is impossible to restore an apostate. For once a person has come into God’s light, and tasted the gifts of the heavenly realm, and has received the Holy Spirit, 5 and feasted on the good Word of God, and has entered into the power of the age that is breaking in, 6 if he abandons his faith, there is no use even trying to lead him to repentance. Hebrews 4:4-6 TPT
